Basically, the keto diet had been developed in the 1920s to treat epilepsy in children. Still, it is using for that purpose as well as also used for many disorders and diseases. In this modern era, the keto diet has become a weight-loss trend. Many celebrities use this for weight loss.

How does Keto Diet work?

Actually, in this mechanism, we get a state Ketosis when our body functions work by consuming the fat.  It is a particular type of diet that contains 75 % fat, 20 % protein, and 5 % carbohydrates.

Our body uses carbohydrates for energy, but in this diet, you restrict the carbs amount and then body break down the stored fat. The ketogenic diet creates molecules called ketones that use as a fuel. Ketosis is a normal physiological process and not dangerous for the body.

What do we eat in the keto diet?

In the keto diet protein sources, meat, poultry, seafood such as salmon and sardines use as protein sources.  For high-fat eggs, cheese, butter, creat, and other fatty dairy products are also included. Besides for 5 % carbs, we take low carb vegetables like greens, tomatoes, onions, and peppers in a limited amount are also included. For the extra good fats, you can add virgin olive oil and some dairy foods.

Side Effects of Ketogenic diet

In the beginning, maybe you can face some minor consequences such as constipation, nausea, dizzy, headache, fatigued, and dehydrated. The one of worst side effect is keto breath due to ketones. But you feel better after using four to six weeks. However, the bad breath could be long term characteristics in some persons.

Benefits of Keto diet

As I mentioned above, it was developed to treat epilepsy but now used for some other disorders. Now keto has become trendy because it is considered the best weight loss diet. It is also popular because many celebrities are using it for weight loss, and they remained successful.

According to some research, the ketogenic diet also lowers the blood sugar level as well as improves insulin resistance.

Researches say that some time keto diet does not work because the body goes in deprivation state.  However, it is also said that the ketogenic diet should not be used for the long term because it is a high-fat diet that also leads to some other severe consequences.
