Fortified Wine

The fortification process is added to preserve the wine. Winery fortified wines by adding distilled spirit, giving the wine its natural flavors.

Fortified wine has an average level of alcohol ranging from 17 to 20 percent. Hence, it is best served as a drink before or after dinner. Mostly, fortified wines have no additional flavoring agents. Fortified can also be useful in mixing up cocktails.
