The Women Tennis No. 1 ranking will be decided at the WTA Championships in Singapore for the 2nd consecutive year.

On Tuesday, world No. 1 Simona Halep has announced that she has a herniated disc in her back, so she will obviously not participate in the event. Halep has almost a slight lead against Angelique Kerber of 1,600 points in the race.

Most people think why there’s a little sunrise between some of the top players in the rankings? You should keep in mind; the past 8 years witnessed a new woman won Grand Slam tournaments.

Those players include Garbine Muguruza, Caroline Wozniacki, Sloane Stephens, and Petra Kvitova. These players have consistently worked hard during the current year. It makes a victorious tear over the final weeks of the season.

It also opens a new path for Naomi Osaka. She won the U.S Open and promoted to No. 3 in the entire major race standings. Osaka just qualified for the final in Tokyo.

The new race for No. 1 will be more interesting because a powerful move from Osaka would take her to the top of the ranking very soon.

Angelique Kerber shouldn’t be considered an easy option to most players. She has learned more during the current year and struggled hard after getting No. 1 rank. Kerber now back in the mix with much experience. She has now worked together with (Wim Fissette) one of the best coaches of tennis.

It will be a good option that 37-years old Serena Williams will be unavailable until 2019. She has been a continuous no-show in the fall. Williams played the WTA Finals only 3 times during the past decade.

Williams still has an appearance of strength, but now she has ranked No. 17. Most well-known competitors have picked up her slow-moving. It supported them in making this one of the major constraining years on the WTA Tour.
