We really feel bad for Taylor Swift who has to leave all her past record because she doesn’t want to sign another contract with Big Machine. On Sunday, fans of Swift got the news that Scooter Braun has acquired Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label group and the biggest perk of this acquisition was to get right to Taylor Swift’s first six albums.

There are many reports which suggest that Taylor could purchase rights  of her old six albums if she got an opportunity but things were not really as simple as we assume.

Upon checking statements of Taylor Swift and her attorney Donald Passman, one thing gets clear in the mind that Taylor couldn’t acquire rights to her past six albums without signing a new deal with Big Machine.  The terms of this new deal was not acceptable for Taylor at all.

On her famous Tumblr post, she wrote  : “For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in.”

Now from this statement, you can get clear idea that she didn’t mention anywhere that she got no opportunity. She might get an opportunity but there was a condition which she couldn’t fullfil.

On Tuesday Passman gave a statement which reads, “Scott Borchetta never gave Taylor Swift an opportunity to purchase her masters, or the label, outright with a check in the way he is now apparently doing for others.”

If Taylor signs a new deal with Big Machine, she binds herself with the company for another 10 year and this might not be an acceptable situation for her  “I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future. I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past,” she wrote.

Borchetta also responded , he wrote a special post titled “ So, It’s Time for Some Truth” , he writes, writes, “As you will read, 100% of all Taylor Swift assets were to be transferred to her immediately upon signing the new agreement.  We were working together on a new type of deal for our new streaming world that was not necessarily tied to ‘albums’ but more of a length of time.”

It seems that Taylor had an issue with timeline that’s why she decided to walk away instead of bounding herself again. We didn’t get any comments from Swift and her Attorney yet.
