The holiest day in Christians’ lives in Sri Lanka becomes the most horrific one. Bomb blasts occurred on several churches and luxury hotels across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday. The recent Sri Lanka Church explosion is the deadliest one in recent history so far.

The cities where these big explosions happened include Colombo, Negombo, and Batticaloa. According to state broadcaster SLRC, a few blasts ripped capital city on high-end hotels namely, the Shangri La, Cinnamon Grand and Kingsbury Hotel.

The blasts took place in the morning around 9 AM when people were gathering for rituals leaving more than 129 people dead and 300 injured. The first blast of Sri Lanka Church explosion hit St. Anthony’s Church in Colombo and the second one happened at St. Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya leaving more than 50 people dead.

Soon after, 25 died in Batticaloa’s hit. The surprising fact is, Sri Lanka is a Buddhist majority country where Christians are only a small minority. According to Rueter’s report, a hotel opposite Dehiwala Zoo was targeted. The chain attacks in Sri Lanka church explosion were made on hotels right after. The three hotels targeted were all the big names of the country including Shangri-La Hotel and Cinnamon Grand, and the Kingsbury hotels in central Colombo. However, the casualties in the hotel hits are unclear yet.

The heads of the army, air, and navy, according to Sri Lanka’s economic reforms minister, Harsha de Silva have gathered for an emergency meeting. The concerned authorities will make strategies to deal with this current situation on Sri Lanka church explosion. Taking it to Twitter, he said we are taking emergency steps are taking and soon the public will know it.
