If your blog is on WordPress then it is very easy to make your site SEO friendly. WordPress itself is reasonable to search engine friendly, as it supports search engine friendly URL.

Three stages in Technical SEO

There are three stages in technical SEO –

  • Crawlability
  • Content Optimization
  • Findability

The main part of technical SEO is whether any search engine bot can crawl your site or not. If your site is not crawled then your blog or site will not be ranked on Google.

  1. Robots.txt

Robots.txt is a very powerful file, which commands Google bot that which sections of your site are to be crawled.

It is mandatory to have a robots.txt file on every blog. It commands the Google bot to crawl your blog more efficiently.

Ways to create Robots.txt

You can create Robots.txt file by two methods. First is by any SEO plugin like Yoast SEO plugin and the other method is to create it manually.

Create Robots.txt file from Yoast SEO Plugin

You can create a robots.txt file from the Yoast SEO plugin. It enables us to manage the SEO of the site in a better and easier way.

Create Robots.txt file manually

You can also create Robots.txt file manually by just going to your file manager and creating a new file named as robots.txt

After you successfully create a robots.txt file in your hosting file manager, you can edit it easily as your requirements.

If your robots.txt file is edited properly then it will help you a lot. It will guide Google Bot which pages to crawl and will increase your rank.

  1. Noindex tags

The no index tag looks like this:

<meta name=”robots” value=”noindex,follow” />

The above code tells a search engine that all links of the page will be followed but the page will not be indexed.

If you want to index your page then you can use this code:

<meta name=”robots” value=”index,follow” />

The above tag tells the search engine that your all links should be followed and your page should be indexed in Google.

  1. Wrong Canonical URL

A canonical link should be used when two posts have the same content. If you have two links which have the same content, it would be very beneficial to use a canonical URL from the duplicate page to the main page.

If you do not know which is the original page or post then use any one of the post or page?

Be very careful when using the canonical URL. If you put wrong canonical URL then the ranking of your site will be decreased.

Content Optimization

This is the last and the main part of technical SEO. If the content of your blog is not proper/unique then it’s waste of time to do above seo.

If your content is copied then your site ranking in search engines will be decreased and you will lose everything that you have gained till now.

Your content should be readable to your visitors. It should be interesting and amazing.

You should also use keywords at least 4 times in your content. The places in content where you should use keywords are –

  1. One keyword on topic of your post
  2. Use one keyword in the first heading
  3. Use at least 1 keyword in the first paragraph
  4. Use keyword in the last paragraph

Your one paragraph of your content should of maximum 4 lines. If your paragraph is of more than 4-5 lines then user will not be interested in reading your content. It will look boring to your reader and he will leave your site.

This is the other part of technical SEO. It means whether Google or any other search engine can find your blog or content or not.

This can be done by making sitemaps.

Breadcrumbs show the path people take when they crawl your post and pages on your blog or site.

Breadcrumbs look like this.

Home>Blog>Technical SEO

It’s very important to use breadcrumbs in your blog for the SEO purpose. Using breadcrumbs will allow Google bot to easily find your site and its pages easily.
