Anime Licensing Pact With Crunchyroll Ended by Sony’s Funimation

Sony Funimation has decided to set ways apart with VRV, the topmost aggregator run by At&T-owned Ellation. This news was revealed on Thursday.

Further details were not provided by the company since Funimation having specialization in anime-centric content. All of a sudden chose to leave its OTT channel from the platform.

However, in case the subscribers want to keep up the content of Funimation. Then they will have to visit. The company used to stream for $5.99 per month.

But of course, another anime contender will step in as Funimation is leaving the platform. A new partnership has been made by VRV with the service provider of anime-centric streaming.

The new channel HIDIVE will propose VRV users around 500 titles, entailing “Elfen Lied” and “Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma.” Also, an extensive catalogue of classic foreign anime will be shown after being dubbed in English.

Being launched in the year 2016, VRV cumulates OTT channels with 7 subscriptions. An option used to provide the users of paying $3.99 to $5.99 for the channels a la carte on monthly basis. This service added all the OTT channels existing on the service.

Furthermore, the company becomes partners with Nickelodeon in order to get the network’s NickSplat service of streaming. This includes a large variety of classic cartoon from the 90s.

The other existing channels on the platform involves Crunchyroll, Hangover, DramaFever, CuriosityStream, Geek & Sundry, Nerdist, Mondo,  NickSplat, Rooster Teeth, Shudder, and VRV Select.

The titles having entitlement during partnership will keep on showing with Crunchyroll also accessible for FunimationNow subscribers.
