Ten people, including two children, were hospitalized after a shooting in Manchester, in the north of England, on the night of Saturday to Sunday.

Police were called at 2:30 am Sunday at Claremont Road in the Moss Side neighborhood, and found that several people had been injured.

A man is in serious but stable condition and nine other people, including two children, have been wounded by shots, the police said later in the morning. Police hope that the light casualties will be able to leave the hospital during the day.

A number of people were in the area after attending a Caribbean carnival that ended a few hours earlier, the police said.

The investigators are trying to establish exactly where this event took place and who is responsible for it.

“It was a serious act, which could have had very serious consequences,” said police chief Wasim Chaudhry.

Additional police officers must patrol the area Sunday morning and in the coming days.

Manchester was hit by an attack on May 22, 2017 , led by a 22-year-old Briton of Libyan origin who set off an explosive device at the end of a concert by American pop singer Ariana Grande at the Manchester Arena.

Twenty-two people died in this attack and a hundred spectators were injured. The youngest victim, Saffie Roussos, was eight years old.
